Abstract Shadows greatly hamper the performance of many algorithms such as Object Recognition, Object Tracking etc. Removing shadow from a video frame can be done through background subtraction technique. But removing shadows from stationary images is a difficult task. We use the method of 1D invariant Image developed by Finlayson et al. to find the minimum entropy of the projected image and use that to remove shadow from the image.
